🌱 Welcome School Counselors!

First and foremost, I want to say how much I appreciate you. As a fellow school counselor, I know firsthand how deeply meaningful—and sometimes incredibly challenging—this work can be. The heart you bring to your students, your school, and your community matters. You are seen, and you are valued.

Everything on this site has been developed with care, reflection, and a deep respect for the many different ways school counseling programs come to life. Please feel free to use or adapt anything you find here to support your own work. Whether it’s a resource for parents, a student-facing tool, or a framework for organizing your year, you are welcome to take what serves you and reshape it to fit your own school context.

Over the years, I’ve found it especially helpful to keep parents informed and engaged—through regular emails, family nights, and Zoom sessions. These small efforts go a long way in building trust and understanding around what we do as school counselors. While every school and every student population is different, staying visible and transparent has strengthened my program in meaningful ways.

If you’re just starting out or if you’re reimagining your program, I encourage you to lean into the ASCA National Model as a foundational guide. It’s a powerful structure that supports intentional, data-informed, and student-centered counseling work.

I also want to acknowledge that many of us are the only counselor at our school—and that can feel isolating. If that’s your reality, I urge you to connect with counselors at nearby schools, join local or state associations, or even reach out online. We are not alone in this work. In fact, we need each other more than ever.

Thank you for all you do. I hope this space provides encouragement, ideas, and useful tools as you continue to grow your program and support your students.
